Dr. Joseph G. Whelan joined Reproductive Endocrinology Associates of Charlotte (REACH) in 2004 after relocating from Virginia to the Charlotte area. He earned his Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry from Washington and Lee University in Lexington, VA, before pursuing his medical degree at the University of Kentucky College of Medicine in Lexington, KY.
Dr. Whelan completed his residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine, Richland Memorial Hospital, followed by a prestigious fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in Baltimore, MD. With more than 20 years of experience as an infertility specialist and over 15 presentations and publications to his name, Dr. Whelan brings deep expertise and compassionate care to every patient he serves.
At Reach Fertility, Dr. Whelan serves as the Assisted Reproductive Technologies Practice Director, helping guide innovation and excellence in patient care and clinical outcomes.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Dr. Whelan is an avid outdoor enthusiast who enjoys hiking, exploring nature, and staying active. He is also a skilled guitar player who finds creative expression through music. Above all, he is a proud father of two, a role that inspires his commitment to helping individuals and families achieve their dreams of parenthood.
